Mandela Way (situated in Bermondsey, London), is a road containing the Tate’s stores, a DPD Depot, and Southwark council buildings. It has also been the site of a tank named Stompie, a house made from a Skip, and a victorian train turntable. The latter three examples of things on Mandela Way, have all been situated on a small piece of land at the very end of the road. A once culturally rich community arts site, has become an overgrown, overlooked waste land. Whilst the site is now sectioned off, and public access is prohibited, this project aims to add a new part to its rich history. By positioning objects around its perimeter, a space which once supported spectacles, became a spectacle itself.
